Contradictory companies

I’ve had this blog post in draft for over a year now. It started with idle chit-chat about companies that make surprising combinations of things, which led to people suggesting other companies over Twitter. Then I compiled this list but couldn’t come up with any sort of narrative around it. Then a year passed, and now the narrative is my ineptitude, and here we are: a list of companies that make things that don’t go together.

  • Guinness: stout, and books of world records.
  • Michelin: tyres, and fine dining guides.
  • Remington: shotguns, and shavers.
  • The AA: car towing, and hotel guides (@dimrill)
  • Bic: biros, and razors (@eskimimi)
  • Dunlop: tyres, and wellies (@eskimimi)
  • Saab - cars, and fighter jets (@jeztomlin)
  • Yamaha: motorbikes, and musical instruments (@brokentv)
  • Tata: cars (in India; also owns Jaguar and Land Rover) and tea (owns Tetley brand) (@KathJones)
  • Pfizer: drugs, and sweets (@sista_flapjack)
  • Peugeot — cars, and peppermills (@sista_flapjack)
