Before the release of this years Biggest New Game Ever (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2), the dev firm (Infinity Ward) announced the PC version would not have dedicated server support. This caused some consternation amongst the PC gaming faithful, who don’t like it being pointed out that the entire concept of gaming on a PC is dying by degrees. It was amusingly spoofed by Penny Arcade.
This lead to some gamer forming a Steam group entitled BOYCOTT MODERN WARFARE 2 (We Want Dedicated Servers) which, like a Facebook group, you could sign up to if you supported the cause.
As you can see from the screenshot of the members of this group, showing what game they were playing at the instant the screenshot was taken, like all Internet petitions, this was a roaring success.
