This is what my dog, Daisy, does when she hears a cat in the garden next door: jumps so she can see over the fence. Those wood panels are five feet high and the top of the trellis piece — which she has her head a few inches over — is nearly six feet.
I can only assume she has some sort of bionic spring implants in her legs. Although in this picture she ran in from the right side of the frame, she can jump like this from a standing start when she wants to — she’s managed to hit her head on the top of a door frame before now.
Obligingly (as I was battling iPhone shutter lag to capture a picture at the apex of the jump), she did this about twenty times in a couple of minutes, alternating jumping this high with a barking lap of the garden. Did I mention she’s stupid?
